黑剛玉又名低鋁剛玉，是于電弧爐中，將鋁礬土熔煉而制得的一種以α- Al2O3 和鐵尖晶石為主礦相的灰黑色結晶體，其特點是Al2O3 含量較低，并有一定量的Fe2O3（10%左右）存在，因而具有硬度適中、韌性高、耐高溫、熱態性能溫定硬度適中、其韌性較大耐磨棱角鋒利、自銳性強、磨削是發熱量少、拋光加工工件潔度高、切削力強、剛柔相濟、耐磨性好、工效高的特點。
 
      黑剛玉的冶煉方式基本上和棕剛玉的冶煉生產方法一樣。黑剛玉的生產方法是選用優質鋁礬土、氧化鐵等原材料，添加其它微量元素，經傾倒式電弧爐精心冶煉，保證了冶煉出的塊狀黑剛玉全為一級品，雜質少、品位高、質量穩定。為生產硬度適中、韌性好，使用性能優良穩定的段砂、粒度砂和微粉奠定了基礎。

      在磨料產品中，棕剛玉、白剛玉、黑剛玉同樣都是以鋁礬土為主要原料，加有鐵屑在高溫電弧爐中熔煉而成的，為什么黑剛玉的價格在其中是最低的呢，在市場上鋁的價格比鐵的價格每噸要高出好多，棕剛玉一級砂的三氧二化鋁的含量在95%以上，而黑剛玉一級砂的三氧二化鋁含量才達到85%，在此就可以看出黑剛玉價格低的原因了。
 
      黑剛玉的價格低但是在拋光、噴砂效果都是很好的，優其是在做防滑地面上既便宜又實惠做出來的路。
 

      
      1、表面加工：金屬氧化層，碳化物黑皮，金屬或非金屬表面污銹清除，如重力壓鑄模，橡膠模之氧化物或離形劑之去除，陶瓷表面黑點，鈾色去除，彩繪重生。

      2、美化加工：各種黃金，K金飾品，貴金屬制品之消光或霧面處理，水晶，玻璃，波紋，壓克力等非金屬之霧面加工以及能使加工物表面成金屬光澤。

      3、蝕刻加工：玉石，水晶，瑪瑙，半寶石，印章，雅石，古董，大理石墓碑，陶瓷，木材，竹片等之蝕刻美工。

      4、前處理加工：鐵氟龍，PU，橡膠，塑料被覆，橡膠滾桶（ROLLER），電鍍，金屬噴焊，鍍鈦等之前處理，使表面附著力增加。

      5、毛邊加工：電木，塑料，鋅，鋁壓鑄品，電子零件，磁芯等之毛邊去除。

      6、應力消除加工：航天，國防，精密工業之零件，除銹，除漆消光，整修等之應力消除加工處理。

      7、電子零件加工：硅芯片之霧面及蝕刻，晶圓背面雜質去除，電子零件封裝之溢膠，成品表面印字的去除，陶瓷電熱之清潔 。
 
      8、模具加工：一般模具表面之噴砂，模具咬花后霧面處理，線切割模，玻璃模，輪胎模，導電橡膠模，鞋模，電木模，電鍍模，按鍵模，塑料制品模。
 
      9、大工作物之加工：大型工件如油槽，化學槽，船殼，銅構，鐵皮屋，貨柜，汽車工業等之除銹，除漆，維修及大片平板玻璃自動霧面處理。
