Synthetic Compressor Oils
Description
Castrol Tribol? 1555 compressor oils were specially developed for oil lubricated screw compressors. They exceed the
requirements of the DIN 51506 specification for VDL type compressor oils.
Tribol 1555 series are formulated using polyalphaolefin (PAO) base oils and advanced technology additive systems.
Tribol 1555 are available in the ISO viscosity grades 32, 46, 68 and 100
Application
Tribol 1555 may be used in all types of oil lubricated compressors such as screw-type, rotary vane and turbo
compressors. They may be used for the compression of air as well as inert gases and hydrocarbon gases.
Advantages
Extremely low tendency to form carbon deposits, which depending on operating conditions promotes longer
valve life and safer operating conditions as well as considerable decrease in fire and explosion hazards.
Reduced maintenance costs are achieved through a considerable increase of service life and reduced downtime
periods.
Compatibility with most commonly used seals and coating materials means no additional changeover cost
through change of seals or hose connections.
Increased oxidation stability and corrosion stability, increased life of lubricants and equipment.
Excellent viscosity-temperature characteristics when compared to mineral oil based compressor oils which
allows start-up at low temperatures and enables a sufficient lubricant film at high temperatures.
The excellent air release properties and water separation abilities promote higher operating efficiency.
Tribol1555 oils exceed the requirements to be met by DIN 51506, VDL-HC oils.

Viscosity selection should always be based on recommendations of compressor manufacturers.
Tribol 1555 is miscible with mineral based oils. However, because of the higher coking tendency of mineral oil based
products, it is recommended to remove mineral oil residues to maximise the product performance.
