核桃殼（核桃皮）是一種經(jīng)脫脂、破碎、拋光、蒸洗、兩次篩選等處理加工過的顆粒狀，表面多微孔、吸附效果較好的多功能材料。

二、核桃殼主要用途：
1、制造活性炭：   
由于核桃殼的化學(xué)成分多為含碳物質(zhì)，而活性炭是一種具有發(fā)達的孔隙結(jié)構(gòu)、巨大的比表面積和優(yōu)良的吸附性能的含碳物質(zhì)。自來水廠、污水處理廠、純凈水廠、制藥廠、化工廠、食品廠、檸檬酸廠、淀粉廠、溶劑廠、維尼綸廠、燃料廠、飯店、家庭等均需要用優(yōu)質(zhì)活性炭來完成各自產(chǎn)品的過濾、吸附、分離或脫色等工藝過程。隨著經(jīng)濟的快速發(fā)展，我國對活性炭的需求越來越大，活性炭的發(fā)展及市場前景非常廣闊。
2、作為濾料行業(yè)：
核桃殼濾料具有硬度高、耐磨損、抗壓性好，抗壓力為23.4kgf，化學(xué)性能穩(wěn)定，不在酸堿中溶解、吸附截污能力強，吸附率為27—50%，親水性好，抗油浸等優(yōu)點。
核桃殼濾料由于本身的硬度，理想的比重、多孔和多面性，并經(jīng)特殊的物理化學(xué)處理（將其色素、脂肪、油脂、電付離子去除干凈），使它在水處理中具有較強的除油性能，除固體微粒，易反洗等優(yōu)良性能。核桃殼濾料已廣泛用在油田含油污水處理、工業(yè)廢水處理和民用水處理。是取代石英砂濾料，提高水質(zhì)，大幅度降低水處理成本的新一代濾料。
3、核桃殼磨料：
核桃殼屬于軟質(zhì)植物拋光材料，具有優(yōu)良的耐磨性能，均勻的粒度，特高的殼含量。廣泛用于模具、儀器、電機、塑料、金銀首飾、眼鏡、手表、高爾夫球桿、發(fā)夾、紐扣等零件的清洗和拋光。核桃殼過濾器具有吸附力強、截污量大；抗油浸、油、懸浮物雙效去除；易再生等優(yōu)良特點。
6、作為堵漏材料：
提高堵漏成功率是降低井漏損失的唯一途徑，而正確選擇堵漏材料及其在堵液中的濃度、復(fù)配比，是提高堵漏成功率的重要技術(shù)措施。研究結(jié)果表明，輕度漏井采用核桃殼粉、單封劑和超細(xì)碳酸鈣堵漏，效果良好。在現(xiàn)場堵漏中，均使用了核桃殼粉，能滿足各種井堵漏、防漏的需求。
